Hallo daar! Deze week ben ik lekker druk met artikelen lezen voor school. Nooit geweten dat er zoveel artikelen zijn over etiek in biologie! Mijn armen zijn nog steeds een beetje stijf van mijn val dus ik probeer zoveel mogelijk te rekken en strekken en voor de rest lekker rustig aan te doen. Ik ben een beetje aan het freubelen geweest in huis want ik had een bus verfspray gekocht om wat oude potten enzo op te leuken. Ik heb er foto's van gemaakt dus ik zal later deze week wat foto's laten zien hoe het is geworden!

Hello there! I've been busy reading articles for school this week. Never knew there were so many papers about ethics in biology! My arms are still a bit stiff from my fall so I'm trying to stretch as much as possible and just take it easy. I've also been doing some DIY-ing around the house cause I bought some spray paint to pimp up some old jars and stuff. I took some pictures of it so I'll show you later this week how it turned out!

good morning!

Een ontbijtje op het balkon is het aller beste! Heerlijk de dag beginnen met het gevoel dat je lekker buiten zit. Ons balkon heeft glazen ramen dus koud is het niet, echt een heel groot pluspunt. S'ochtends heb ik nooit veel trek dus is mijn ontbijt voornamelijk 'vloeibaar': yoghurt met muesli, banaan en kaneel, een lekker vers sapje en een grote kop fruitige thee.

Gister ben ik op pad geweest met mijn ouders en M. naar National Park Skuleskogen en hebben we een wandeltocht van ongeveer 9 km gedaan. Dit klinkt niet zo heel lang, maar het heeft ons een paar uur gekost omdat een groot deel van de route 'off road' was. Halverwege zijn we gestopt voor een pauze en hebben we lekker worstjes gegrild. Ik ben wel een keer flink uitgegleden op een grote steen maar gelukkig ving mijn rugtas de grootste klap op. Ik heb nu wel een blauwe kont en ben super stijf, maar gelukkig is dat het enige. We hebben heel wat mooie plaatjes geschoten dus ik zal binnekort weer een verhaaltje schrijven op mijn reisblog.

Breakfast on the balcony is the best! Just so nice to start off the day with the feeling of being outside. Our balcony has glass all around so it's not cold there, a really big plus. In the morning I never feel like eating so my breakfast is mostly 'liquid': yogurt with muesli, banana and cinnamon, a fresh juice and a big cup of fruity tea.

Yesterday me, my parents and M. did a hiking tour through the National Park Skuleskogen and we hiked about 9K. It doesn't sound that far but we went 'off road' so it took us quite some time. Halfway we stopped to make a fire and grill some food. I did fell down once cause I slipped on a big rock but my backpack took most of the hit. My ass is kinda bruised and I'm really stiff but luckily that's all. We took some pretty cool pictures so I'll be soon writing a post about it on my travel blog.

Ik heb een super drukke week voor de boeg! Ik krijg mijn ouders op bezoek deze week dus ik wil mijn werk voor school af hebben voor ze komen. Ze komen woensdag avond aan en blijven maar tot zondag ochtend en we willen graag leuke dingen doen! Jakkes, er staat een artikel debat op vrijdag gepland.. Eens kijken of ik een vervangende opdracht kan krijgen want dat debat voorbereiden en voor woensdag af hebben gaat dus niet lukken. Gelukkig lijken mijn leraren flexibel dus hoop ik dat dit geen probleem is.

We zijn van plan om met mijn ouders naar Nordmaling te gaan (hier wonen M's ouders), een natuurpark bezoeken en een wandeltocht langs de hoogste kust van Europa maken, de stad een beetje verkennen en natuurlijk komen ze hier om ons huisje te zien! Dat allemaal gepropt in 3 en een halve dag wordt krap, maar met een strakke planning komen we er wel.


I got a busy week ahead of me! My parents are visiting this week so I want to have all my schoolwork done for the rest of the week. They arrive on Wednesday evening and only stay until Sunday morning and we wanna do a lot of fun stuff! Yikes, they planned article debate on Friday... Let's see if I can do some written assignment instead cause preparing for that when I only have until Wednesday isn't gonna work. Luckily my teachers look flexible so I hope it's not gonna be a problem.

We are planning on taking my parents to Nordmaling (were M's parents live), go visit a national park and do a hiking tour along the highest coast of Europe, explore the city and of course they are here to visit our new home! This all has to be squeezed into 3 and a half day so it's gonna be tight, but with a good planning we will make it work.


PS of course I'll bring my camera with me when we go out into "the wild"..  ;-)

mirror mirror on the wall

Onze slaapkamer begint steeds meer sfeer te krijgen. Deze romantische spiegel hebben we gekregen van M's moeder en is echt perfect om mijn kleine kettingen aan op te hangen. Ik zoek nog steeds iets om mijn grote statement kettingen in/op te tentoonstellen dus voornu liggen ze in de la van dit kastje. The kleine schaaltjes zijn tweedehands en het LOVE kunstwerkje is van Xenos.

 

Love how romantic our bedroom looks. We got this old mirror from M's mom and it is perfect to hang all my necklaces on. I'm still looking for something to put my big statement necklaces in/on, but for now they are just laying in the drawer of this cupboard. The little bowls are from the second hand shop and the LOVE sign is from Xenos.

Gotta love black nails! The nail polish is from Rimmel nr. 800 "Black out" and rings are from H&M.

Update: pictures were taken on Saturday and today (4 days after application) the nail polish has only chipped on 2 of my nails, amaaazing! :)

like the sky was dancing

Wow wow wow wow, dat was het enige wat uit mijn mond kwam. Dit zijn foto's van het Noorderlicht die we zagen op maandag avond. Ik keek die avond toevallig op de site van space weather, hier kun je voorspellingen zien, en zag dat de KP-index super hoog was (hoe hoger, hoe meer kans op noorderlicht) en dat er een Aurora STORM verwacht werd rond 2 uur snachts! Ik had dinsdag ochtend vroeg les dus ik had mezelf voorgenomen om niet op pad te gaan en maar gewoon om 2 uur mijn wekker te zetten en vanaf het balkon te gaan kijken. Zo kun je het Noorderlicht niet op zijn best zien door alle lichtvervuiling door de straatverlichting, maar het is wel zichtbaar. Toen ik gewoon even de lucht ging checken rond een uur of 10, was het al in volle gang!! Ik kon het natuurlijk niet weerstaan haha, en ben samen met een M. en een klasgenootje naar het meer gegaan. Wat een show, zoveel Noorderlicht heb ik nog nooit gezien. Het was echt overal!

En wat denk je.. Woensdag nacht was het weer raak haha! Dit keer bleven we lekker binnen en keken we vanaf ons balkon (het is hier s'nachts namelijk al super koud). Dekentjes, kopjes thee en oreo's hebben ons de nacht door geholpen. Wat zijn we toch mazzelaars met dit huisje!

wow wow wow wow, that was the only word that came out of my mouth. These are pictures of the Northern lights that we saw on Monday night. I was just checking the space weather website for Aurora forecasts, and I saw that the KP-index was super high (the higher, the higher the chance of seeing Northern lights) and I saw that there was a Aurora STORM expected around 2 am that night! I had an early class that next morning so I decided to stay home and set an alarm at 2 so I could watch it from our balcony. It's not the best spot to watch the Northern lights in the middle of the city with all the light pollution, but it is visible. When I just checked the sky from our balcony around 10 pm, I saw that it already started! I couldn't resist it of course haha, so I went to the lake together with M. and classmate. What a show, I have never seen sooo much Northen lights. It was everywhere!

And guess what.. Wednesday night it was on again haha! This time we just stayed indoors (since it's already cold as hell here at night) and watched it from our balcony. Blankets, cups of tea and oreo's helped us through the night. Gosh, we so lucky with our new home!

Hoe mooi de lichtval in deze foto's? De herfst komt steeds dichterbij en het is ook al een stuk frisser buiten. Tijd om weer jeans te dragen en s'avonds de kachel aan te hebben! Het is nu lekker weekend, en M en ik hebben geen plannen. Heerlijk relaxen en een beetje klussen in ons huisje.

How pretty is the lighting in these pictures? The fall comes closer and the temperature is dropping. Time to wear jeans and turn on the heat at night! Now it's friday, which means weekend and M and I don't have any plans yet. Just relaxing and maybe do some chores around the house.

a peek into our new home

Hier wat fototjes van ons nieuwe huisje. Het heeft nog wat werk nodig, maar het begint langzamerhand steeds meer eigen en gezellig te worden! Kan niet wachten tot ook onze slaapkamer en balkon af zijn! We hebben trouwens echt mega mazzel met ons balkon. We hebben namelijk uitzicht op het noorden en 3x raden..  maandag avond zagen we het noorderlicht vanaf ons balkon!!! Hoe bizar?! Meer daarover komt snel! :-)

Here some pictures of our new home. It needs a little bit of work still, but it slowly becomes more cozy and starts to feel like our own place! Can't wait until our bedroom and balcony are done! We really are super duper lucky with our balcony with a view to the North cause guess what.. Monday evening we saw the Northen lights from our balcony!!! How bizar?! More about that will come soon! :-)

Hallo blog, ik ben een tijdje afwezig geweest.. Ik weet het.. Morgen ga ik weer een leuke outfit shooten dus nieuwe foto's zijn onderweg! Hoe vinden jullie mijn nieuwe layout? Ik vond het weer eens tijd voor een frisse look voor mijn blog. Niet teveel toeters en bellen dit keer want ik wil mijn foto's in het middelpunt van de aandacht hebben. Goed excuus om te proberen fotografie beter onder de knie te krijgen, toch?

Ik ben inmiddels al 2 weken bezig aan mijn Master moleculaire biologie dus best veel tijd gaat daaraan op. Het zal dus wel iets rustiger op mijn blog worden. Don't worry, als ik vrije tijd heb dan zal ik zeker proberen om zo veel mogelijk te uploaden. Vandaag ben ik wezen winkelen bij BikBok en Gina Tricot, dus ik heb heel veel leuke dingen om te shooten, nu alleen nog de tijd vinden! Dus.... even geduld aub! :-)

Hello blog, I've been a little absent lately.. I know.. Tomorrow I will shoot a nice outfit so new pictures are on their way! How do you like my new layout? I thought it was time again for something new and fresh. Not too many crazy things going on cause I want my pictures to be in the center of attention. Good reason to try to upgrade my photography skills, right? 

So it's been 2 weeks now since I started my Master's in molecular biology and it takes up a lot of time. It will be a bit more quite on my blog from now on. Don't worry, if I have free time I will definitely try to upload as much as I can. Today I went shopping at BikBok and Gina Tricot, so I have lots of cool stuff to shoot, now all I need is the time! So.... just bear with me! :-) 

(Haha, good thing I googled that last sentence, cause I almost would've said 'bare with me'... everybody just please keep your clothes on please!)
